Daphne Weir
(1928-2011) - Daphne M. Weir, 82, of Riverview, formerly of St Martins and Hillsborough passed away peacefully on March 29 with family by her side. Born in Sussex, England, Daphne immigrated to Canada in 1957. Accompanying her military husband, Daphne lived in Germany and many places in Canada, finally settling in NB in 1970. Daphne’s greatest joy was the time spent with her beloved family and pets. She was an avid walker who loved the woods and the beach. Daphne had a fondness for the colour red, bluebells, travel and fish & chips. She was a kind, caring and unselfish lady who touched many lives. She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Glennys and Dawn; sons, James and Chuck; grandchildren, Shannon (Daniel), Nicola (Tim), Nathan and Morgan (Lee); great grandchildren Jessica (Graeme), Phillip and Abby; devoted and wonderful friend, Mary; her “adopted” daughter, Linda; son-in-law, Jamie; her family and friends in England and Canada. Besides her mother, she was predeceased by her husband, James; daughter, Kimberley; grandson, Colin; and her faithful sidekick, Molly.
Honouring Daphne’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral. Interment will take place in the spring in Hillside Cemetery, Albert County. Those wishing to make a donation in Daphne’s memory may do so to the Greater Moncton SPCA, Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation or charity of their choice.
