Surrounded by his loving family, Fitzroy ‘Roy’ Green, 83, of Whitney Pier, passed away peacefully at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Tuesday, March 29, 2011.
Born in Sydney, he was the son of the late Fitzroy and Antoleza (Francis) Green.
He was a member of Trinity United Church, Sydney.
Left to mourn are his five daughters, Patsy (Whitney) Meade, Debbie Green (George Smith), Valerie (Eric) Andrea, Karen (Gary) MacIver and Marie, all of Sydney; his six sons, Kenny (Betty), Gary, Benjie (Judy), Adam (Laurel), Lorne (Kelly), all of Sydney, and John (Debbie), Toronto. Roy is survived by his 23 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his sisters, Marie Nichols, Isolene Giscombe and brother, Benjamin (Delores).
Roy was predeceased by his loving wife, Katie in August 2010, his son, Chuppie, great-granddaughter, Brittany Green and sister, Winifred Braithwaite.
Visitation will be held at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Sunday, April 3 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Trinity United Church on Monday, April 4 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Maggie Coleman officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. Reception to follow at the Melenik Hall, Whitney Pier.
