VANDER HONING, Hendrick “Hank” - 83, formerly of Kentville, passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2011 in the Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre, Waterville, Kings County. Born in The Netherlands, he was the son of the late Andries and Wytske (Jansma) Vander Honing. He was an avid gardener, working in both Holland and Nova Scotia as a farmer. After immigrating to Nova Scotia he worked on Seldon Eaton’s farm for four years, later retiring from Canard Poultry after 22 years. Hank enjoyed the woods, wildlife and walking. He is survived by his first wife, Maaike “May” (Visser) Vander Honing, Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville; three sons, Andries “Andy” (Audrey), Centreville; John (Ann) Hultink, Lacombe, Alberta; Henry (Diane) Hultink, Beamsville, Ontario; three daughters, Agnes (David) Hazelwood, Aylesford; Wendy Harvey (Tim Thornton), Collingwood, Ontario; Iena (Harry) Van’t Foort, Brinston, Ontario; a brother, Albert (Martha), The Netherlands; a sister, Antje Brower, The Netherlands; a sister-in-law, Annie Vander Honing, The Netherlands; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his second wife, Pauline (Eagles) (Rafuse) Vander Honing; two brothers, Meeuwes, Koop; a sister, Gepke; a grandson Scott Van’t Foort and a nephew Andries Vander Honing. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2011 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2011, Pastor Randy Hiltz officiating. Burial took place in the Aylesford Union Cemetery. The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to all the staff on MacArthur Unit of the Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre. Donations in memory may be made to the Kings Regional Rehabilitation Centre - MacArthur Unit or to a charity of your choice.
