Pat Neary

Patrick Francis Neary
74, Glace Bay
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather Patrick “Pat” Neary on June 4, 2017; with his family by his side after a short battle with cancer, at the An Cala Unit, Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in Glace Bay, he was a son of the late Phillip and Viola (Marsh) Neary. Pat was a man who always put his family first. He worked for many years at the Glace Bay Miners Forum; was a well known businessman in Cape Breton and gave 30 plus years of service as a volunteer firefighter for the Glace Bay Fire Department. Pat is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda (Price); son Randy (Tara), daughter Tracey (Robert) Green; a very special grandson Brody Boutilier and great grandson Caleb Green; brother Jackie (Anne) Neary, sister Betty (Dannie) Ross; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters Evangeline and Alice. Cremation has taken place. Visitation for Pat on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9pm in Currys Funeral Home, 775Main Street, Glace Bay. Funeral Mass of Resurrection Thursday 11am in Holy Cross Church with interment in St. Anne’s Cemetery. The reception to follow will be hosted at the Glace Bay Fire Department Hall on Reserve Street.
Donations in Pat’s memory are suggested to the An Cala Unit or charity of choice. The family wishes to express special thanks to all the nursing staff and doctors at the An Cala Unit; the palliative care and VON nurses and the New Waterford Home Care workers. Dad, I won’t immortalize you in the stars, because they fade away

I won’t remember you with a poem, for it will be forgotten in a day
I will just keep you safe in my heart, so that you are with me in every way
