James Raymond Steward passed away in Regina on June 8, 2017 at the age of 100. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Margaret and his wife Bessie in 2008. Raymond is survived by his daughters: Marilyne, Patricia (Larry) Hesterman, Nancy and Shirley (Lorne) Ozipko; five grandchildren: Chris (Lori), Kent (Leanne), Kevin (Rhonda), Ryan and Tracey; seven great-grandchildren: Alex, Andrew, Kate, Mya, Cameron, Finley and Parx. He was born in Tuxford on October 31, 1916. He farmed in Crane Valley until 1981. Raymond was very active in the community teaching Sunday School for 37 years, chairman of the School Board and 4H Leader for 20 years as well as being involved in many other community endeavours. When Raymond and Bessie moved to Moose Jaw he took up lawn bowling, shuffle board and became active in Timothy Eaton Garden. He loved to travel and he and Bessie travelled to many countries together. He had many slides that he shared with people in senior homes. Raymond lost the love of his life October of 2008 just nine days short of their 66th wedding anniversary. He continued to live in his home until October 2013 when he moved to Silva Care Home, Regina and recently moved to Riverbend Crossing Care Home, Regina. A Celebration of Raymond’s Life will be held on Wednesday June 14, 2017 at the Jones Chapel, 106 Athabasca St. E., Moose Jaw at 1:00PM. Rev. Bill Luther will officiate. Interment will follow Rosedale Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff at Silva Care Home and Riverbend Crossing for their wonderful care and compassion while Dad was in their care.
