TURPLE (Smith), Alice "Rose"– Rose was born September 11, 1924 in Mount Denson and raised in Scotch Village. She passed away at the age of 92, after a brief illness, with her family at her side in Ivany Place, Bedford. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Arthur (Jean), Bill (Jadwiga Wencel), Ann Crossley (Vern Silver), Rose (Brian) Spike, Robert (Karen), Steven, Hazelle (Allan) Pettipas, Alice (Anthony) Burke, as well as 21 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years, Robert Turple; parents, Leroy and Victoria (Queenie) Smith; brothers, Arthur, Archie and Richie Smith; sisters Jessie Turple and infant Joy; son-in-law, Avard Crossley; grandson, Walter Spike; grandson-in-law, Wesley Hellyer. Her nursing career took her to Halifax and Ottawa and after her marriage to Bob her passion was to him and her eight children. Rose was a devoted wife and loving mother who took great pride in looking after her children and always extending loving arms to anyone who entered her home. Rose and Bob were known for their faithful dedication and their many years of service to the Lord. They were frequently called upon for prayer for the sick because of their strong faith and were witness to many miracles throughout the years. Special thanks go to the wonderful and caring staff of Ivany Place, who took care of Rose with such love and compassion. Truly they made her a part of their family. The funeral was held Tuesday, June 6, at Rock Church, 222 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville. Donations can be made in her memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or to Ivany Place Nursing Home, Bedford.
