Ethel went to be with her Lord peacefully on June 8, 2017 in Nanaimo, BC at the age of 87.

Born in Sydney, Nova Scotia in 1930 she was one of 17 children born to John Michael and Margaret (Dwyer) Campbell of Glace Bay and Antigonish, Nova Scotia, respectively. Following her graduation from St. Josephs Hospital School of Nursing in 1951 as a Registered Nurse, she married Thomas O'Neill at Sydney, Nova Scotia in September 1952. Together they had four children. Ethel worked as an RN in various leadership roles until moving from Sydney, Nova Scotia to Vancouver and eventually Nanaimo, British Columbia with her four children following the untimely death of her first husband Thomas in 1964. She attended school in Vancouver while working and raising her four young children. She completed her Vocational Instructors Certificate in 1967 and moved to Nanaimo where she was Department Head of the Practical Nursing Program at Malaspina College until her retirement in 1990.

She is survived by her four children, Barry O'Neill (Charmaine), Margaret Ann McRae (nee O'Neill), Michael O'Neill (Mary), and Patrick O'Neill, as well as Geoff Turner's much beloved children Moyra Turner and Patrick Turner (Dianne). She also leaves behind her siblings, Charles Campbell (Mary), Keady Morrison, Regis Wheatley, Nora Aucoin (Gordy), Lois Haaheim (Donald), Catherine Clutterham (Donald), and Carmel Kehler (Bill).

She is lovingly remembered by 13 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren

Ethel is predeceased by her siblings, Cyril, Jack, Bob, Michael, Sally, Agnes, Mary, Dewey, and Francis, and her husbands Thomas O'Neill (1960), Fred Nordvoll (1995), Geoffrey Turner (1998), and James Lloyd Ritchie (2005).

Ethel loved and lived her life touching everyone around her with her warm smile and charm. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed singing and entertaining throughout her lifetime. She will be remembered by many for her deeds of kindness, loving spirit, and wonderful stories.

There will be a funeral mass followed by a reception at 11am at Trinity Catholic Church, 6234 Spartan Road in Nanaimo, BC on Saturday June 17, 2017. In lieu of flowers Ethel requested donations to the Lung Association.
