Donald R.  Vance

Donald R. Vance, 72 years of age, of River Hebert, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2017 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. Born in River Hebert, he was a son of the late George & Lucy (Vance) McKeigan.
He was a hard worker. Donald was an avid hunter and fisherman. Loved to go for drives with Mary on the Sanctuary. He loved his cats Cookie & Muffin. He worked as a coal miner for most of his life. He worked for CN Rail and later at Oxford Frozen Food. He enjoyed camping with his wife, Mary. He loved his family and being with them.
Survived by his sons, Gary Jonah (Marilyn) of Maccan, Charles Murray (Peggy) of Amherst, Merrill (Andrea) of Amherst, NS, Marven of Springhill, NS , daughter Karen Cameron of Amherst, NS ; brothers Hermie McKeigan (Nancy) of Amherst, Earl McKeigan of River Hebert, NS, Garnet McKeigan of Amherst, sisters, Joy Miller (Charles) of Amherst, Ruth McKeigan of Joggins; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; cousin Jean (Henry) of River Hebert special friend, Bev Estabrooks of Amherst, nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his wife Mary Murray, sisters Doris McKeigan & Barbara Jean in infancy; brothers Hector McKeigan, Lawson Vance.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Furlong-Jones Funeral Home, Main St., River Hebert (902-251-2877) where a time of visiting will be held on Monday, 12, 2017 from 12- 2p.m. with a funeral service to follow afterwards at 2p.m. Burial to take place at a later date.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the L.A. Animal Shelter.
