Elsie Mae Dodge, age 95, of Ashdale, Hants Co., passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017, at Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, where she has been a resident for the last 6 years. Born on August 2, 1921, in Riverside, (Shubenacadie), she was the daughter of the late Earle and Gladys (McCulloch) Northup. She was a life member of the Newport United Church UCW. In her early years she was a PCW in Hants County area care homes. She enjoyed playing cards, was a great cook and was well known for her bread and roll making. Elsie and Cecil loved to dance and were a joy to watch. Elsie is survived by daughters, Joan (Jim) Darnley, Garlands Crossing; Jean MacLeod (Pierre), Musquodoboit Harbour; son, Earle (Sharon), Garlands Crossing; Paul (Judy), High River, Alta.; grandchildren, Anthony, Susan and Michael Dodge; Cecil and Elsie MacLeod; Jeffery Darnley and Jennifer Morton; 11 great-grandchildren and 12 great great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary, Doris, Jean, Loretta, and Polly. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Cecil Parker Dodge (2008); son-in-law, Daniel MacLeod; sisters, Phyllis and June; brother, John. Cremation has taken place under the care of Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King St., P.O. Box 2218, Windsor, NS, B0N 2T0. A Celebration of life was held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 19, 2017 in the Newport United Church, Brooklyn. The Rev. Kevin Cox officiated. Interment was in the Riverview Haven Cemetery, Union Corner. Family flowers only, donations in memory of Elsie requested to be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Dykeland Lodge or to a charity of your choice.
