JANE CARMELITA MACLEOD (MUSGRAVE)
Born In: BALL'S CREEK, Nova Scotia, Canada
Passed in: Canada
Passed on: June 17th, 2017
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved wife and mother Jane Carmelita (Musgrave) MacLeod, 81. After a courageous battle with cancer she died peacefully at home Saturday, June 17th surrounded by her loving family. Born in Ball's Creek, she was the daughter of the late Sidney and Johanna (MacMullin) Musgrave. Jane took great pride in having attended Riverview Rural High School in its inaugural year. She later went on to complete a CCA course and had a rewarding career with Cape Care Services. However, her greatest reward was being a Mom and Nan. Sunday dinners at Mom's were a weekly tradition where you were sure to find her homemade bread and fresh apple pie.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Bernie; sons, Bernie Jr. (Greta), Cyril (Margie) and Carl; daughters, Carmie (Andy), Judy (Chris) and Sandy (Brean); 11 grandchildren, Tim, Tara, Colin, Aaron, Emily, Sheena, Ian, Alexandra, Breanna, John, Jamie and their families including two special great-grandchildren, Johanna and Mya. Also left to mourn are brother, Roddie (Jean); sister, Lillian (Bubby) Jennex; in-laws; nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by five brothers, Martin, Siddie, Charlie, Dougie and Danny; two sisters, Georgina and Christina; and a daughter-in-law, Margie. Jane was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish and belonged to the Lazarus Committee. Being a woman of strong faith she took comfort knowing she would be reunited with her family who have passed before her.
Visitation will take place today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the SW Chant and Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney. Funeral to be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 21,2017, at Our Lady of Fatima Parish, officiated by Fr. Devereaux. Internment at St. Mary's Parish, Frenchvale, at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Palliative Care. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.chantsfuneralhome.ca.
