Bernard ‘Bernie’ Kenneth White

Born: April 25th, 1959

Passed in: Sydney
Passed on: June 24th, 2017

It is with heavy hearts that we say farewell to a loving father, son, brother, cousin, and friend, Bernard ‘Bernie’ Kenneth White.
Watched over by his loving family, Bernie passed away at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Saturday, June 24, 2017. Bernie was born on April 25, 1959 and raised in New Waterford by parents Simon and Roberta (Carrigan) White. Bernie grew up alongside brothers, John ‘Johnny’, Peter, and sister, Barb (White) Warner.
Bernie later married his now ex-wife Isobel MacDonald and fathered his only son, Jonathon Alexander White. Moving to Halifax, Bernie pursued a career in Paramedicine at Dartmouth Ambulance and later, Emergency Health Services. Bernie spent many long nights writing and re-writing proposals and contract drafts that paved the way to benefit and further educate his fellow co-workers in the paramedic field we see today. Bernie had a love for many types of music, and was rarely seen without a book in hand and a smile on his face. Always happy for an insightful discussion or a joke and laugh, Bernie will be forever missed, always loved, and never forgotten by family and friends.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A Funeral Mass of celebration will be held on Thursday, June 29 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Father Ray Huntley officiating. A luncheon will follow at St. Leonard’s Hall on Convent Street, New Waterford.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
