Amanda Lynn Sherwood
May 17, 1989 – June 24, 2017
With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Amanda Lynn Sherwood, on June 24, 2017. Amanda was taken away from us at the young age of 28. She was born May 17, 1989, in
Prince Albert, Sask. to Gordon and Marianne Sherwood. Amanda graduated from Red Wing School, where she then completed her schooling at Carlton Comprehensive. Amanda participated in Ukrainian dance in her younger years, winning many medals and other awards. Amanda loved playing all sports. She participated in all school sports, as well as playing
hockey, soccer and softball. Amanda grew up between her two brothers, Thomas and David, who she loved immensely, playing games and roughhousing, making Amanda a regular tomboy. Amanda was always the quiet one, but stood up for herself. She did things on her terms! Until the time of her passing, she actively participated in slow pitch, flag football, soccer, hockey and volleyball, where she made many good friends. Amanda “Mother Hen”, always carried extra supplies, ice and bandages, bug spray, suntan lotion, sweaters, umbrellas, etc. which she shared with her fellow sports enthusiasts as the need arose. She also enjoyed fishing and deer hunting, as well as sitting around the fire pit, visiting and partying. Amanda started her work career as a cashier at the Co-op cafeteria, moving on to waitressing at the Casino, later transferring to security. Amanda decided to try her hand at retail, and has been working at Sportchek ever since. Amanda’s favorite holiday was Halloween - for several years she went as Disney princesses. She then moved on to costumes of her own personal creative touch. Amanda’s favorite colour was lime green. She accumulated many items, objects and clothing of this colour. Even her ball glove has lime green trim on it. Amanda was very creative and artistic. Putting her personal touch on everything she did. Amanda created personal and unique gifts for the people she loved, like the flaming “7“dice shirt for David, the Las Vegas Casino poker chip picture for Thomas, and the “Dilly” shirt for a special boy. Amanda had a knack for making people feel special. And they were all special to her. Amanda is survived by her parents Gordon and Marianne Sherwood; her brothers Thomas and David; her nephew Theoren; her special friend Richard Hodgson and his son Dylan; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and their families. Amanda was predeceased by her Gido Peter and Baba Anne Darchuk; her Grandfather and Grandmother E. Gordon and Celine Sherwood; and her Uncle Ben Darchuk.
