Plymouth – It’s with broken hearts we announce that Wayne Martin age 59 of Plymouth, Pictou County passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital on July 1, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
Wayne was a son of the late Ralph and Mary Teresa (De Rouche) Martin and stepmother Florence (nan) Martin.
Wayne was employed with Northern Pulp for 31 years where he retired in 2015 due to ill health. He enjoyed golfing, fishing at the family cottage in Lochaber and was an avid sports fan. He is survived by his loving wife Cindy (Baxter) Martin, a brother Ralph (Chantal) Martin of Charlottetown P.E.I, nephews Jamie and Kyle, father-in-law Jim Baxter of Stellarton, sisters-in-law Chrystal Baxter (Richie) of MacLellan’s Brook and Caroll MacKinnon of Westville, nephews Ryan (Tiffany) and Evan (Kelly), niece Olivia (Pat), brother -in-law Jim (Melissa) Baxter of Jeddore, Oyster Pond; uncle Clayton Porter; cousins Donna Cox , Mike, Gary and Roger Porter; sister-in-law Linda MacKay; nieces Stacey MacKay of Little Harbour and Wendy (Mike) Verge of New Glasgow; fur babies Kia, Koe koe and Kola.
He was predeceased by his parents, a sister in infancy, mother-in-law Bonnie Baxter, step brother Robin MacKay, brother-in-law Blair MacKinnon and grandmother-in-law Jean Baxter.
The family will receive visitors from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday in the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel, Stellarton.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jim Webber-Cook officiating.
Cremation to follow. Donations in memory of Wayne may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital or to a charity of one’s choice.
The family would like to thank Dr. Peter Lee, Dr. Kwasnik, the Palliative Care Unit & the VON (Krista) for their compassionate care.
