Jennie (nee Peinsznski) Walsh

Passed on: July 3rd, 2017

On July 3, 2017, Jennie (nee Peinsznski) Walsh, age 87, passed away peacefully at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital with loving family by her side. Jennie grew up in a large family of 10 in Dutch Brook, Cape Breton. On August 16, 1950, Jennie and George Walsh were married enjoying 57 happy years together.
She enjoyed many years of bowling with the ‘girls’ and came home weekly sometimes proud and sometimes not so proud of her scores. She loved a good old fashioned Cape Breton winter when she could get out cross country skiing. When not skiing she was skating at the rink with her many friends. She took pride in her flower gardens and was especially proud of her bright red peonies and her crimson red maple. There wasn’t much that would keep her away from her weekly card games at the Evergreen Club.
She was a devoted wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She was loved greatly by her family who meant everything to her.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Dalwood (Don Mair) Castlegar, BC and Joanne Kennedy (Bruce) Peru, NY, and son, Terry Walsh (Cathy) Castor, Alberta; three grandchildren, Jenny VanWinkle (Brian), Casey Kennedy (Michelle Liberty) and Donovan Dalwood (Nicole), and great grandchilden, Brook VanWinkle and Jack and Nash Dalwood. She is also survived by sister, Minnie Matheson, Merrickville, ON, and many nieces and nephews, too numerous to mention
She is predeceased by her husband, George Walsh; sons, Edward Walsh and John Walsh; parents, Paul and Josephine Peinsznski, and siblings, Joe Peinsznski, Paul Peinsznski, Casimer Peinsznski, John Peinsznski, Julie Peinsznski, Mary Lappin, Anne Malek and Helen Sykula, and son-in-law, Glenn Dalwood.
Resting in Green’s Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury, on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. from where a Celebration of Life will follow at 11 a.m. She will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Parish Cemetery, Port Hawkesbury. A reception for all will follow at St. Joseph Parish Hall.
Memorial donations can be made to the Evergreen Club or charity of choice.
