Bertha Marie (nee Stordy) Kelly

The death occurred peacefully, with family by her side, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown, on Friday, July 7, 2017, of Bertha Kelly (nee Stordy), beloved wife of the late Justin Kelly, formerly of Kelly’s Cross, aged 87. Bertha was the loving mother of Lawrence (Laura), Bob (Mary), Les, Marlene Clark (Mike), Cecil (Mary), Jim (Bernadette), Karen Myers (Ronnie), Connie MacLean (Tom), Joanne Mayhew (Gordon) and Stevie (Kimberley); grandmother of 25; and great-grandmother of 17. She is also survived by her sisters, Bernadette Noonan, Marie Voelcker (Helmut, deceased); brother, Gerald Stordy (Marion); sisters-in-law, Colette Stordy (George, deceased), Emily Stordy (Edwin deceased), Rita Kelly (Francis deceased), Edith Costello (Leo, deceased), Pauline Doyle (Pat) and Patricia Molyneaux (Leroy); and brothers-in-law, Joe Kelly (Evelyn); Len (Mae deceased). Besides her husband Justin, Bertha was predeceased by her son, Brian, in infancy; granddaughter, Wanda Clark; granddaughter-in-law, Jennifer Martens; parents, Anthony and Ermine (Duffy) Stordy; mother and father-in-law, Joe and Loretta (Monaghan) Kelly; brothers, Lawrence, George, Cecil and Edwin Stordy; and sisters, Margaret Richard (Martin deceased), Ethel Richard (Tony), Mary Monaghan and Eileen Penwell. Resting at Central Queen’s Funeral Home, 2538 Glasgow Road, New Glasgow, for visitation on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Kelly’s Cross, on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 10 a.m. Interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery. If so desired, donations in Bertha’s memory to the Kidney Foundation or St. Joseph’s Prayer Garden would be appreciated.
