Lillian Clarke

PICTOU – Lillian Grace Clarke, 94, of Pictou, passed away April 13, 2011 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born February 3, 1917 in Pictou, she was a daughter of the late James and Lillian (Moore) Hansford.
Surviving are sons: Zane (Billie), Westlock, AB; James (May), Brantford, ON; Gordon (Elsie), Waterside, NS; daughter, Sybil (Harold Smith), Pictou; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. She is also survived by sister, Elsie MacPhail, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lillian was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Lester; son, Albert in infancy; brothers, Frank and Melville; and sister, Cassie.
Lillian was a life-long adherent of St. James Anglican Church and for many years, a devoted member of the choir and Ladies Guild. She was a member of Victory Chapter #17, O.E.S. for over 40 years. Lillian was an animal lover, avid gardener, and amazing baker – having baked her last batch of famous bread just two days before her 94th birthday.
A heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses of 4 North and Palliative Care, Aberdeen Hospital. A special thank you to Dr. McCara for her years of care and home visits.
Visitation will be held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral service will take place 11 a.m. Saturday from St. James Anglican Church, Pictou. Reception to follow. Burial in Haliburton Cemetery.
Family flowers only. Donations in Lillian's memory may be made to the SPCA.
