Mary Lou Delorey (nee MacGillivray) age 81, born March 30, 1936, passed away unexpectedly on July 17, 2017 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Predeceased by her husband of 52 years Paul Edward Delorey.
She was the youngest of six children of the late William and Agnes (MacDonald) MacGillivray, born in New Glasgow and had moved to Thorburn as a young child.
Mary Lou resided in East River Manor prior to that she lived on the Logan Road, Fraser's Mountain.
Mary Lou attended school at East Pictou Rural High school where after grade 11 went on to study nursing at the Aberdeen Hospital School of Nursing graduating in 1957. Most of Mom’s nursing career was spent at the Aberdeen Hospital and as a nurse at Michelin Tire, Granton Plant.
She is survived by a daughter Anita (Richard) Heighton of Abercrombie, grandchildren Michelle, Diana (Adam), Michael (Cristal) and her great-granddaughter Emily; son Ron (Joyce) Delorey of Cambridge, grandchildren Keith and Jennifer (Dean); daughter Paula Delorey (Ralph Rogers) of Kentville and grandchildren Sandra (Andrew), Brian (Christine), step-great-grandson Liam and baby Jones due in November; brother Donnie MacGillivray, Toronto; sister Claire Murphy, Thorburn; many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law Rita Hearn, Beatrice Delorey and Jeanne MacGillivray.
Predeceased by 2 sisters Helen MacGillivray, Irene Adams; brother Lawrence MacGillivray and nephew/godson Bert Grice.
A very special Thank-you to the staff of 5 south, your care and support will never be forgotten. Dr. Kwasnik and the staff of the palliative care, Dr. Kaiprath and staff of the VON, also Father Tom MacNeil, Sister Mary and Sister Marie for your many visits prayers and kind words.
Always one to enjoy a good time Mom will be missed by everyone that knew her. She especially enjoyed her many summers with Dad at the D&B RV Park. We are so glad she got to say hi to everyone this past Saturday, little did we know this would be her farewell visit.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Sunday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 am on Monday, in St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church with Father Tom MacNeil presiding. Burial will be in Christ the King Cemetery, Trenton.
Donations in her memory may be made to the M.S. Society, Cancer Society, Epilepsy Association of Nova Scotia, VON, Christ the King Cemetery or a charity of your choice.
