It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gordon Joseph Carey announce his passing at the A. M. Guy Memorial Health Centre, Buchans, NL on April 1, 2011 at the age of 96. Gordon was a member of the Knights of Columbus (Bishop March Council # 3315) and retired from ASARCO at the age of 65. Gordon was predeceased by his loving wife, Bride; brothers, John, Patrick, Howard, Allan; sister, Elizabeth; sisters-in-law, Alice (Glavine) Carey, Alice (Croke) Carey; brothers-in-law, Raymond Lannon, Samuel Lannon, Martin Wiseman and Edward Power. Left with fond and loving memories are sister, Catherine Power , St. John’s; sisters-in-law, Frances Lane, Mount Forest, ON, and Vera Lannon, Bishop’s Falls, NL; sons, Gordon (Patricia) of Chelmsford, ON, Matt (Patricia) of Bishop’s Falls, Bill (Carolyn) of Terrace Bay, ON, Pierce of Buchans, NL and Howard (Madonna) of Corner Brook, NL; daughters, Mary (Eric) of St. John’s, NL, Madonna (Dave) of Kitchener, ON, Catherine (Angus) of Corner Brook, NL and Jacqueline of St. John’s, NL; and special daughter-in-law, Lorna of Buchans, NL. Also leaving to mourn are his grandchildren, Paul (Carolyn), Wayne (Corinne), Brenda (Patrice), Neal (Amy), Michelle, Matthew (Deanne), Robyn, Michael (Jennifer), Carey (Nicole), Christopher, Colin (Shawna), Jeff, Ian, Brittany, Nikita, Natasha (Sachin), Janine (Aaron), Ryan (Teri), Alyssa, Megan (Stephen), Brianne, Heather, Danielle, Nicholas, Amy, Ashley, Noah and Abigail. Great grandchildren, Tara, Andrew, Sydney, Alexandra, Maia, Josh, Liam, Tenley, Zachary, Kali, Claire, Aynsley, Connor and Cayden. Archbishop Martin W. Currie conducted the funeral service at St. Theresa’s Church in Buchans on April 4, 2011 at 2:00 PM. Interment followed at the Community Cemetery in Buchans. Pallbearers were grand-sons, Wayne Carey, Matthew Carey, Carey Brett, Michael Nash, Christopher Brett and Nicholas Barrett. Honorary pallbearers were grand-daughters, Alyssa Carey and Ashley Barrett.
