Patricia (Rennie) Billings

Sadly, my mother, Patricia Billings, 93, passed away peacefully with grace and dignity July 22, 2017 at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney, Nova Scotia. Mum was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, April 3, 1924; the youngest of five daughters born to the late John and Barbara Rennie. While working as a hairdresser in Scotland, Pat met the late Dawson Billings, RCAF, married and immigrated to Canada in 1945.
Mum spent her entire career in Canada in retail sales, retiring as a manager of Wallpaper Shop, Nashwaaksis, New Brunswick; her most loved position. She then moved to Cape Breton in 1998 to be close to family.
Pat is survived by only daughter, Barabara Hawkins; granddaughter, Heather Hawkins; grandson, Robert (Angela) Hawkins; great grandchildren, Jeffrey Hawkins and Janelle Hawkins, all of Sydney, NS. Also survived by sister, Bess MacIntosh, Rochester, New York; brother-in-law, Alex Mair; nephew, Alex Crocker, Scotland, and niece, Margaret Hopkins, Rochester, New York.
In addition to her parents, Pat was predeceased by a sister in infancy; sisters, Margaret Mair and Nan Cocker; brother-in-law, Alex Cocker, Aberdeen, Scotland; son-in-law, James Hawkins, and great-grandson, Jamie Hawkins.
Mum was proud of her family and spoke frequently of her youth and early days in her beloved Scotland.
Pat resided the past three years at Spanish Bay, Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney, NS where she was most content and we wish to thank her many friends and the staff for their excellent care and kindness.
Service of Interment will be held Wednesday, July 26 at 1 p.m. at Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks. Rev. Sheldon Chant to officiate.
