THIBEAU, Geneva “Gen” Blanche – 91, Yarmouth, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 16, 2017 with her loving family at her side. Born in Barrington on July 23, 1925 she was a daughter of the late Frank and Emma (Lyle) Francis. She worked when she was younger but then went on to be a mother and a housewife as her full time career. She was a very kind and loving woman who helped anyone when she could and spent many years working tea & sales and canvassing for various organizations. She loved to bowl and was on various leagues for over 20 years. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Legion for over 20 years as well. Her many talents included painting, crocheting, ceramics, jigsaw puzzles and cross stitching, but her favourite pastime of all was knitting; oh how she loved to knit. She also loved the ring toss game where she beat everyone with two ringers back-to-back on her 91st birthday. She loved her furry friends, especially her favorite cats Sam, Stripes and, at home, Lady Sophia. Mom is survived by us, her loving children, Jim Thibeau, Yarmouth; Bill (Rose) Thibeau, Bridgewater; Shirley (Ron) Boudreau, Alberta; Elaine Cottreau, Yarmouth; Mary (Mark) Pitman, Yarmouth; Bob (Judy) Thibeau, Halifax; Wendy (Arthur) LeJeune, Yarmouth; as well as by seven grandchildren, along with two grandsons who passed away in infancy, and six great grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Aside from her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Joey Thibeau; sisters, Elsie, Violet, Annie, Muriel, Floris; brothers, Floyd, Edward, Milton and Emerson; husband, James. Visitation took place from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, followed by a memorial service at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 20, both at H.M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, 29 Albert St., Yarmouth, Rev. A.D. “Bill” Newell officiated. Private interment followed in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery.
