FERGUSON (née Smythe), Mary Jane - Mary Jane passed away peacefully at the Cornwall Hospice on Saturday, August 12, 2017, age 71 years. Loving wife to John for 37 years. Mother to her stepchildren Hugh and Heather, grandmother to Meghan, Kevin, Michael, Sarah, Rachel and Sam and great-grandmother to Nickolas, Hayden, Jocelyn and Adalyn. Mary Jane was a dedicated teacher for the SD&G County Board of Education. She challenged her students to study hard and strive for success. As a step-mother and grandmother, she loved the children and encouraged them to do their very best in life. Mary Jane's special touch will be missed by many in the community and particularly by members of the University Women's Club, her Tai Chi group and book club. Mary Jane is also survived by her sisters Marilyn and Frances, and brothers Robert, David, Gerry and Ross. Predeceased by sister Margo and brother Norman. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 from 3 - 5PM and 7- 9PM at WILSON FUNERAL HOME, 822 Pitt St, Cornwall. A Private Funeral Service will follow at a later date. When we see a bird, smell a flower or turn a page in a book, we will know that Mary Jane is not far from us.
