It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the passing of Art Smith on August 13, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Ernest and Mary (Kelly) Smith. Art worked as a construction worker and enjoyed playing darts, cards and crib with friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Beverley; son, Troy (Lindsay), New Waterford; his first wife, Carla Moore (Reid); daughters, Sonya (Grant), Leduc Alberta, Roxanne (Bruce), New Waterford and Shannon (Steven), Gardiner Mines; sister, Gertrude (John), Lingan; brothers, Mike (Debbie), New Waterford, Ernie (Pat), Calgary; brothers-in-law Wayne and Ronnie (Sandra); Grandchildren Tyler, Brianna, Madison, Nolan, Parker, Paige, Chace, Sidney and Lukas; as well as his great-granddaughter Bradlee.
Beside his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Tom and step-sisters, Mary-Emma and Millie; step-brothers, Pat and John Joe and a brother in-infancy. Cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 10 a.m. in the Parish of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Ave, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating followed by a luncheon at the parish hall, Convent Street, all are welcome. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave, New Waterford, 902-862-7500. Donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
