Westville Road - Samuel Charles “Sug” Fraser, age 88, of Westville Road, formerly of Pictou Landing and Laggan, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2017, in the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
Born in Pictou, he was a son of the late Charles and Georgina (Cheverie) Fraser. He was a retired conductor and brakeman with CN and former lobster fisherman. He enjoyed hunting and four wheeling while living in Laggan and family get-togethers.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Hendsbee; daughters: Sheila (Jim) MacLellan, Bayview; Sharon (Bob) Hawboldt, Pictou Landing; Nancy (Cecil) Charlton, Pictou Landing; Mary Louise, Riverton; son, Sam (Gayle) Fraser, Coalburn; chosen son, Donnie (Helen) Murray, Trenton; grandchildren: Marilyn, Jean, Jason, Dawn Marie, Sandy, Brandy and Melissa; great grandchildren: Richard, Johnathan, Ceci, Joshua, Brittany, Dylan, Cyrus, Loki and Brodie; great-great granddaughter, Perry Mae; sister, Jessie (Walter) Grist, Annapolis Valley; brothers: John (Jeannette), Merigomish; Donald (Muriel), Dartmouth;sister-in-law, Marie Fraser, Stellarton.
He was predeceased by a grandson, Allison; sisters: Jean, Margaret and Anita; brothers: Peter, William and Albert.
Visitation 6-9 pm Tuesday, in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow, from where a Celebration of Life will be held at 11 am Wednesday, with Mr. Fergie MacKay officiating. Reception to follow in the First United Church Hall, High St., Trenton. Donations in his memory may be made to the IWK Health Centre or a charity of choice.
