James "Buddy" Morgan

James "Buddy" Morgan

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Buddy on August 18, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Abraham Morgan and late Molly Morgan. Buddy worked as a coal miner for over 35 years. He enjoyed playing cribbage and tinkering in the garage on small engines.
He was an avid Chicago Blackhawks fan and a loyal Cape Breton Oiler and a Screaming Eagles season ticket holder for 30 years. He was a great fan of the Glace Bay Miner and Panthers. He was known to many of the young players as “Papa”
Buddy is survived by his loving wife, Betty; daughters, Darlene MacDonald (Kevin), and Kathy Morgan. Grandchildren, Kevin (Cathleen) and Morgan MacDonald (Jock) and Brett (Rochelle) and Erika (Taylor) Simmons.
He is also survived by his sisters, Joan Burton, Patty and Donna Martell; brothers, Eddie (Debbie), Freddie (Colleen) in Ontario; sisters-in-law, Olga Ogley and Margie MacKinnon; brother-in-law, Buster Weatherbee, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a special niece, Debbie Roach and Pam Cooper, whom he considered his daughters.
Buddy is predeceased by sisters, Marie (Willie) Boutilier, Marjorie (Rick) Kelly and brothers, Sonny Morgan and Paul Martell; brothers-in-law, Pat Burton, Clifford (Marion) and Brother Weatherbee, John Ogley, parents-in-law, Buster and Carmella Weatherbee; sister-in-law, Carmella Morgan, nephews, Gary and Rod Kelly and grandniece, Tara Morgan.
Mom and Dad were married for 55 years and each week he would give mom a single red rose. Their love was special and they were always together. Buddy was a compassionate loving family man. Family was his priority. He was a quiet, witty, intelligent, thoughtful man, loved by many. He will be missed.
We are blessed to have had him in our lives, our hearts are broken, Dad, we love you!
