On Wednesday, August 23, 2017, our brother, Jimmy, was called to heaven to join his parents, Regina (McLeod) and Gordon, while surrounded by his loving family.
Jimmy was born in New Waterford, NS. At the age of 18, he moved to Ontario where he worked for 25 years as a PCW at Sheridan Villa Nursing Home in Mississauga. He lovingly entertained the residents by singing to them and dancing and joking with them.
Jimmy had a youthful spirit. He spent many nights dancing and joyfully singing karaoke. Jimmy enjoyed celebrity gossip and all things entertaining. He also loved animals, playing cards and cooking.
Jimmy will be lovingly remembered by his seven brothers and sisters, Lucille Muise, Vonnie Warburton, Gordie (Sadie) Warburton, Donna Kelly, Gary (Reggie) Warburton, Richard Warburton, Todd Warburton and sisters-in-law, Colleen Warburton, Margie Warburton and Lori Warburton. He is also survived by his son, Jimmy John in Ontario. He was a fun loving uncle to 24 nieces and nephews and many grand-nieces and nephews and will be missed by numerous cousins, friends, an uncle, and his sweet cat, Bella.
In addition to his parents, Jimmy was predeceased by three brothers, Louis Richard in infancy, Eddie in 2003 and Brian in 2011. He was also predeceased by maternal grandparents, Norman and Lucy (Tighe) McLeod; paternal grandparents, John James and Veronica (Petrie) Warburton; brothers-in-law, Bernie Muise, Fidel Gillis and Austin Kelly.
Visitation will be held at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford, NS, on Friday (today), August 25, 2017 from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m.
A funeral mass of celebration will take place at the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 10 a.m. with Father Ray Huntley officiating. Cremation will follow with interment in St. James Cemetery, Gardiner Mines, at a later date.
Following the funeral mass, a luncheon to celebrate Jimmy's life will be held at the Army, Navy, Air Force, Unit 217, New Waterford, NS.
Donations in Jimmy's memory may be made to the SPCA.
