Wendy VERGE
April 10, 1959 - August 27, 2017

Wendy Verge passed away Sunday, August 27, 2017 at the age of 58 in the presence of her two children and husband after a courageous one year battle against pancreatic cancer. Wendy was born in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, where she resided until her passing. Wendy convocated from the University of Saskatchewan in 1981 with a Bachelor of Education degree. She returned to Prince Albert and immediately began what turned into a 34 year teaching career. Wendy had a special ability to bring the best out of her students and in the process she positively changed the lives of many during her career. In June of 1992 Wendy was swept off her feet when she met the love of her life, John. The couple were wed in August of 1994 and welcomed their first child, Blayz, in December 1995. Their second child, Lexi, arrived in October 1997, completing their family of four. Wendy and her family lived in their country home where she enjoyed landscaping and flower gardening. She built a beautiful yard that she was very proud of and spent most summer nights with family around her fire pit roasting wieners and eating s’mores. Family was the most important thing to Wendy. She loved being with family whether it was for simple coffee breaks or her large holiday feasts. Wendy had a true passion for baking and was known for her famous cinnamon buns and teacakes. Wendy ensured that family traditions carried on and family from out of province made frequent trips to Wendy’s kitchen. Wendy and her daughter Lexi shared a very special mother/daughter bond that included a love for shopping and John often referred to them as “pros”. Lexi and Wendy were inseparable. Wendy’s greatest joy was to watch her children compete in track and field events and competitive drag racing. She loved spending time at the family cottage at Emma Lake. Wendy always looked forward to the family’s annual summer vacation to Canmore, Alberta where she enjoyed everything the mountains had to offer. On August 24, 2016 a very unexpected cancer diagnosis changed Wendy’s life, robbing her of the ability to do many of the things she loved. However, cancer could not rob her of the special times and memories she made with her family. True to form, Wendy’s family remained by her side day and night as she fought through the darkest of times. Wendy’s pain and suffering is now over and we know she is in good company with God, her mother, and her grandparents. Wendy leaves to mourn her passing, her loving husband John Verge; daughter, Lexi; son, Blayz (Sara Grassick); father, Art Gee; sisters, Leslie Vansteenburg, Alice Geib (Ron), and Donna Gee; brother, Wesley Gee (Cindy); mother-in-law, Edie Verge; brother-in-law, Kerry Verge (Glenda); sister-in-law, Renee Verge (Blake Buettner); as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Wendy was predeceased by her mother, Mee Gee; and grandparents, Yuen and Suey Mah and her brother in-law Vern Vansteenburg. Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, September 2, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Parish, 260 - 25th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Pastor Dennis Serfas officiating.
