McDONALD, Arthur Gerard “Art” – 80, passed away peacefully, after a sudden illness, on Tuesday morning, August 29, 2017, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, he was a son of the late Owen and Mae (Coyle) McDonald. Art worked his entire life as an Engineer with CNR and was a war and history buff beyond what words can describe; he took great pleasure in reading war and history books. Art is survived by his loving wife, Viola “Vi” (Weir) McDonald; step children, Roger Priest, Truro; Nancy (Pat) MacEachern, Napean, Ontario; step grandchildren, Shelby and Robert MacEachern. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Phillip “Sonny” (Joan) McDonald. Private interment will be held in Robie Street Cemetery. If so desired, donations in Art’s memory to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia are welcomed. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro.
