SMILEY - Muriel J., 90, of Port Medway, Queens County, passed away peacefully in Queens Manor, Liverpool on Thursday, August 31, 2017. Born in West Quoddy, NS, she was a daughter of the late Ewart “Bebo” and Gladys (Jewers) Beaver. Muriel was a life member of Mersey Branch #38, Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary and received her 55 year pin. She was a member of Holy Redeemer Anglican Church and served on the ACW. She was an active volunteer for the Canadian Cancer Society. She will be sadly missed but lovingly remembered as a special wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great-grandmother and friend. She is survived by her children Virginia (Keith) Hubley of Lower Sackville; Ralph (Jeanette) of Waverly; Merle (Debi) of Port Medway; Ethel Marshall of Black point; Teresa of Liverpool; Guy of LaBelle; Juanita (Lloyd) Wolfe of Liverpool; Mark of Porter’s Lake; Blair (Kandi) of Kingston, ON; Scott (Kim) of Lower Sackville; 25 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; Her brother Lindsay (Audrey) of Dartmouth. She was predeceased by her husband Douglas; her daughters Brenda Smiley, Eunice Gaskell and Janice Gaetz; Her son Clarence; her grandson Cory; her great granddaughter Desiree; her sisters Luella Fanning; Juanita Watt and half-sister Ola Ettinger; her brothers Guy Beaver, Clyde Beaver and half-brother Merle Ettinger. Visitation will be Sunday, September 3rd, 2017 from 7 until 9 p.m. in Chandlers’ Funeral Home, Liverpool. NS Funeral service will be Monday, September 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Redeemer Anglican Church, Port Medway with Reverend Judy Cross officiating. Burial will be in Holy Redeemer Anglican Cemetery, Port Medway. Family flowers only. Mom would appreciate donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Run For The Cure, a charity she has fully supported since 2000 through the Smiley connection by donating and attending to give many people encouragement being a 46 year cancer survivor herself.
