SURETTE, Winnifred “Winnie” Mary - age 70, of Yarmouth, passed away peacefully on August 30 after a brave seven year battle with Frontal Lobe Atrophy. Born in Yarmouth, she was the daughter of Killam and Frederica Noah. Winnie was known to all in Yarmouth for her unwavering kindness, caring nature, and sharp wit. Winnie had a presence like no other in both style and personality. She enjoyed shiny things; clothes, jewelry, and crystal of any kind. Spending time with her was energizing, if her positive energy didn’t give you a boost, her hugs and kisses would. People relied heavily on her for their personal and business banking needs as she was one of the longest serving employees at CIBC nationwide having worked at the Yarmouth branch for 44 years. Winnie was known for her selfless dedication to public service. She served on over thirty different volunteer groups and organizations spanning many decades. She helped anyone in need through her extensive volunteer work or quietly as a caring neighbour. Her community-minded way and compassion for others was recognized on more than one occasion having been bestowed many deserving honors including the Governor General’s Caring Canadian Award. Winnie is survived by her mother, Frederica; husband, Roger; son, J.R.; daughter, Melanie (Sean); grandson, Cowen; and granddaughter, Kiersten, all of Yarmouth. Cremation has taken place at Huskilson’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. There will be a Celebration of Life to be held at St. Ambrose Co-Cathedral, Yarmouth on Saturday, September 16 at 10:00 a.m., Rev. Mr. Stephen Bourque officiating, with a reception to follow. The family would like to thank the compassionate staff at The Meadows for their great level of care for Winnie and the family during her short time there. Special thank you’s also go to Dr. David Webster & Dr. Paul Legere for their ongoing support and friendship. Donations can be made to the Gilles Boudreau and Friends Cancer Help Fund or a charity of your choice. You may sign the online guestbook by visiting www.huskilson.net
