It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Viola (Eldridge) Little on September 3, 2017 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in New Waterford on January 28, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Mary (MacIntyre) Eldridge.
Viola enjoyed cooking, baking, and entertaining family and friends. She had a smile that would light up the room. Throughout the years, Viola also enjoyed many social activities such as dancing, bowling, cards nights with her friends, and recently, all the events and activities at Maple Hill Manor.
She will be greatly missed by her daughters, Ann (Stevie) MacNeil, Sarnia, ON and Madeline Gillis, Sackville, NB; step-children, Joanne (George) MacDonald, Glace Bay, David (Sharon) Little, Dominion, Dwight (Francine) Little, Dominion, Cathy Hawley, New Waterford, Scott (Cheryl) Little, Slave Lake, AB and Karen MacKinnon, New Waterford; brothers, Roddy Eldridge, Cyril (Harriet) Eldridge, Melvin Eldridge and Raymond Eldridge, all from New Waterford; brother-in-law, Vindy MacDonald, New Waterford; daughter-in-law, Jeanette MacDonald, New Waterford; grandchildren, Alyson, Daniel, Kristen, David, Sandra, Tanya, Tara, Michelle, Aimee, Jacqueline, Brittany, Jason, Mitchell, Jonathan, Shelby, John Michael, Raylene, Joey, Aaron, Cheryl, Natalie, Shauna, Stevie and Trevor; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Alexis, Ande, Emily, Kendra, Ryan, Zach, Felicia, Dorian, Kinsey, Marshall, Russell, Baily, Cody, Hanna, Heather, Jackson, Jaycee, Hudson, Olivia, Briar and Sophie; great-great grandchild, Brody, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her loving husbands, John Michael MacDonald and David Little; son, Brian MacDonald; step-daughter, Sharon MacKenzie; sons-in-law, Ronnie Gillis, Mike Cull, Greg Hawley and Donnie MacKenzie; brother, John (Eleanor) Eldridge; sisters, Alice (Mickey) Kearney and Patricia in infancy, and sisters-in-law, Jean Eldridge, Leona Eldridge, Diane Eldridge and Ada MacDonald.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at 1 p.m. with a commemorative service following at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 in the funeral home chapel with Father Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery. A luncheon to follow at the parish hall, Convent Street. All
are welcome.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Maple Hill Manor or the Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
