Passed peacefully away in the presence of his loving family, September 5, 2017 at the Carbonear Long-Term care facility, in his 82nd year, Edward Harold Dawe of Country Road, Bay Roberts. Predeceased by his parents, Frank and Florence, brother Frank and sisters Doris and Catherine. Leaving to mourn his wife of 56 years, Joyce, sons, Paul (Jacquie), Stephen, William (Maria), Daughter Karen (Doug) as well as grandchildren Jessica, Stacey, Leslie, Alicia, Isabel, and Gabriella. Also leaving to mourn sisters Anne Hagglund, Caroline Leckie, Marie Dawe, brother-in-law Neil Legge and sister in law Ruth Dawe, as well as numerous friends and family. Harold retired as principal from St. Luke's School, Port-De Grave after 31 years of teaching, including Winterbrook, Norris Arm North, South River, Norris Point, Petty Harbour, Tack's Beach, Goulds, and Badger's Quay. He was proudly active in the Anglican Church as a Lay Reader, Parish Treasurer and Warden, and spent many hours volunteering in Church Lads Brigade (CLB), Lion's Club, CNIB, Kiwanis, Retired Teachers of NL, International Friendship League, as well as local politics, serving as a town councillor and as deputy mayor of Bay Roberts. Visiting hours at Moore's Funeral Home, Bay Roberts, 2-5 PM and 7-9 PM on Thursday September 7, 2017, with Memorial Service to be held on Friday September 8 at 10 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, Coley's Point. Interment to follow at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
