POTHIER, Sister Rosalie Marie (R.S.R.), 1926 - 2017
(Marie de la Nativité-de-Jesus) of Rimouski, Que., died on September 3, 2017 in the Centre Hospitalier régional de Rimouski, at the age of 91, after 72 years of religious life. Born in Upper West Pubnico, she was a daughter of the late Hilaire and Alma (d’Entremont) Pothier. She is survived by her brother, Rufin Pothier, Yarmouth; sisters, Charlotte Doucet, Lower Wedgeport and Annette Comeau, Middle West Pubnico; brother-in-law, Louis LeBlanc, West Pubnico and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Philippe, her sister, Léa and 2 sisters in infancy.
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Saturday, September 9, 2017 in the chapel of the Mother House of the Congregation of Les Soeurs de Notre Dame du Saint Rosaire, 300 allée du Rosaire, Rimouski, Que., with internment in the Jardins Commémoratifs St-Germain de Rimouski. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Funérarium J.B. de Rimouski, 240 St-Jean-Baptiste Ouest, Rimouski.
Rosalie entered the Congregation of Les Soeurs de Notre Dame du Saint Rosaire in 1945 after completing a Home Economics Program at L’École Ménagère Régionale in Rimouski. Licensed as a teacher, Sister Rosalie taught in a number of places including: St. Augustine, Gaspé and Restigouche, Que., and Millonocket and Frenchville, Me. She also served in Port-au-Choix, N.L., Campbellton, N.B. and Mont Joli, Que. and retired at the Mother House in Rimouski. She enjoyed many summer vacations visiting her extended family in Yarmouth County and was very proud of her Acadian heritage. ‘Tante Soeur’ will be remembered as a gentle, considerate, and loving person who kept us all in her prayers.
