Elaine Watson (Neily) (Rathbone) Woodworth, RN – 95, After a long and full life, our wonderful mother, Elaine Watson (Neily) (Rathbone) Woodworth, of New Minas, has now traveled to her eternal resting place from Evergreen Home for Special Care. Born August 5, 1922 in Torbrook Mines, Annapolis County, she was a daughter of the late Sara Annie (Watson) and Charles Neily (who passed away prior to her birth). Left to mourn Elaine’s passing and to offer thanksgiving for her life are her “earthly treasures”, daughters, Mary (John) Cosby, Chilliwack, British Columbia; Fran (Bill) Woodside, New Minas; Brenda (Robert) Kelly, Noel; chosen daughters, Beth (special niece), Bernice, Carrollee, Micheline “Sweetness”; grandchildren, Matthew (Monica), Joel, Adam (Chandra), Becky (Everett), Carrie (Paul); great-grandchildren, Finn & Chase Fraser-Woodside, Xavier & Aly Woodside (and their mother, Tiffany), Beckett & Lily Cosby, Ricky Woodworth; cousin, Ethel McLane; several nieces and nephews; special nurse friends, Fran Turner & Peggy Chase; church friends, Jean Millet, Gloria Hicks and Margaret Currie. Elaine was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her step father, Harvey Mapplebeck; first husband, James Rathbone; second husband, Donald Woodworth; sisters, Thelma, Eleanor, and Frances; a brother, Watson. Mom has left behind a legacy of love and laughter, living her life with faith, love and service towards her family and mankind. There will be no visitation, by request. A celebration of Mom’s life, followed by a reception, was held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, September 16, 2017 in Orchard Valley United Church, Cornwallis Avenue, New Minas, Reverend Ivan Norton and Reverend Gary Manthorne officiating. Burial took place in Melvern Square Church Grove Cemetery, Melvern Square, Annapolis County. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in Elaine’s memory may be made to Orchard Valley United Church, or the Annapolis Valley Victorian Order of Nurses.
