It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Dominic Paul Marinelli, age 67, on September 14, 2017 after the most courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Sydney Mines on September 21, 1949, Dominic “Burpy” was the son of the late Antonio and Edna (Best) Marinelli.
Burpy was a hard working member of the Labourer’s International Loc. 1115 for many years before he retired from Northern Contracting Limited. He loved fishing, going for drives in his truck, baking, cooking and playing solitaire. Everyone who met Burpy fell in love with his sweet and funny personality.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Marion; sons, Wayne (Katrina) and Paul (Reta); daughter, Kat (Amy); grandkids, Logan, Sean, Dominic, Emily and Sawyer; sisters, Louise (Carl), Nora (Ernie), Mary (Simon), Cathy (David); brothers, David (Lynda), Phillip (Donna), Brian (Joanne), Francis (Bridgette) and John. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends and his best little buddy, Lucy.
Besides his parents, Burpy was predeceased by his brothers, Robert and Anthony.
The family would like to send a warm thank you to all of the wonderful staff in the Palliative Care Unit of the CBRH. You all made Burpy and his family feel so comfortable and at ease. Also, a huge, loving thank you to everyone who showed so much love and support. Your time, generosity and your love will forever be embedded in the thoughts and hearts of Burpy’s immediate family.
Visitation for Dominic Marinelli will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., with a service to Celebrate his life to follow at 3 p.m. in J.M. Jobes Funeral Home, Sydney Mines, with Deacon Greg Murphy officiating.
