It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Elisabeth Ann Dixon on June 25, 2017.
Our Lis - a warm easy smile, a huge sense of humor, selfless, endless giving, acceptance, commitment, integrity, a passion for learning, forever curious. All that and so much more. She rarely spoke of her many accomplishments as a doctor of Organic Chemistry, including the fact that she was the founding director of the Environmental Science Program at the University of Calgary, leaving yet another indelible mark not only through her own work but also that of her many students.
No room was big enough to contain Lis' generosity, whether at work or at play. She so enjoyed her golf group in Sechelt, her many years of squash, at one time seated 5th in Canada, her years of field hockey as a member of Canada's national team, and Lis loved entertaining her many friends on both the Sunshine Coast and in Palm Springs.
Lis will be deeply missed, especially by her partner and best friend of more than 30 years, Dolores Houghton. We are all grateful for the love and friendship we shared.
A celebration of life for Lis will be held on Monday, October 30, 2017 at the Gibsons Public Market, 473 Gower Point Road, Gibsons, BC between 1pm and 3:30 pm. Please RSVP by email to Dolores at houghton18@gmail.com
