1939-2017
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marlene Elizabeth Morrison, 78, of Dieppe, and formerly of Dorchester, with her son, Tony by her side, at the Moncton Hospital on Tuesday, September 12, 2017. Marlene was a daughter of the late John and Elva (Scott) O'Neil and the widow of the late William Morrison.
Marlene was an active supporter of the First Baptist Church, Dorchester where she helped with the Sunday School Programs as well as singing in the choir. More than once she received missionaries into her home. She was a kind hearted and generous woman with a good maritime sense of humour.
Marlene was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She will be sadly missed by her two sons; Alexander (Lorrie), Kingston, ON, Anthony, Moncton, NB; her daughter Shauna Hicks, Dorchester; eleven grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren; two brothers, Garnett Curry, Nanaimo, BC and Michael (Rita) Curry, Lr. Sackville, NS, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband William; an infant daughter, Heidi.
Arrangements are under the care and supervision of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (506-364-1300) from where a funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, September 16, 2017 with a reception to follow. Pastor Cecil Symes presiding. Marlene will be laid to rest with her husband in Riverside Cemetery, Sherbrooke, NS on Monday at 11 am.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the 3rd Floor Palliative Care physicians, nurses and staff for their compassion and care.
Donations in memory of Marlene may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
