SMITH, Merle McKinnon – 83, Atwood’s Brook, May 27, 1934 – September 22, 2017. Master builder, cabinet maker, ship’s captain, loving, husband, puzzle cracker, Scrabble champion, father of six, Donna, Melinda, Randy, Jonathon, Richard, Julie; and grandfather of nine; great-grandfather of 14. Merle was a kind caring man who loved his whiskey, a good smoke, the morning paper, a hearty laugh, a good yarn, and the company of his fine wife, Diane. He was generous to a fault with a big heart and a strong opinion on Canadian politics and the state of the world. He was always ready to help, always quick with a smile and a laugh. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Barrington. There was a memorial service held, Wednesday, September 27, at 2 p.m., at the H. M. Huskilson’s Memorial Chapel, Barrington. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the VON.
