Earl Delbert Rushton

RUSHTON, Earl Delbert – 90, Truro. The family of Earl Delbert Rushton wish to announce his passing on Thursday, September 28, 2017, at Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro. Born in Bass River, he was a son of the late Bertram and Bertha (Cochrane) Rushton. He was predeceased by his parents and six siblings. Dad is survived by his children, Beverly Shume, Winnipeg, Manitoba; Earlene Rushton, Legal, Alberta; Earle Rushton (Judy), Truro; Ed Rushton (Debbie), Winnipeg, Manitoba; Roy Rushton (Janice), Sooke, British Columbia; grandchildren, Tim Yakem, Cheryl Yakem, Anthony Shume, Angela Shume, Keith Martin (Marcelle), Steve Martin, Sarah Smith (Jeremy), Joel Rushton, Kailyn Rushton; great grandchildren, Taylor, Brendan, Gavin, Claire, Cassandra, AJ (Anthony), Dyllan, Blakely, Spencer. Dad had a long military career starting in the army and this brought him overseas to Germany. When his term in the army was over he came home to Truro where he met and married our mother, Edith (Berrigan) Rushton. Dad then joined the Air Force and he was transferred all over Canada with us in tow. He was very proud of his military service and received several commendations. He enjoyed curling, cards, bingo, watching wrestling on TV and listening to anything sung by Johnny Cash; he was a very avid country music fan. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Thursday, October 5, 2017, The Reverend Lori Ramsey officiating.
