Robert Gerald Hemsworth passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, SK. He was born December 27, 1931 in Gull Lake, SK to William and Clara Hemsworth. Bob attended school in Gull Lake where he grew up playing hockey and baseball. He was an avid curler and golfer and also an active member of the Prince Albert Golf and Curling Club where he held the position of Secretary Treasurer of the Senior Men’s Club for many years. Bob was inducted into the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame as a member of the Gull Lake Rangers. He joined the RCMP in 1952 and upon completion of training was stationed in Ontario. In 1961, he was transferred to Yorkton, SK where he met Jill Spice and they married June 10, 1961. Bob also was the Secretary Treasurer of the Prince Albert Chapter RCMP Veterans Association after 3 years of service and was a former Masonic Lodge member. He enjoyed his word finds and crossword puzzles. Dad loved spending time with his coffee friends, discussing the world’s problems. He loved the company of his family and listening to all their stories. Bob was predeceased by his wife of 52 years Jill; his siblings Jim, Earl (Audrey), Merl (Bill) McLagen and Alice (Howard) Anderson. He is survived by his son Robert Burton (Nikki), Trinity and Thomas; his son William Angus (Josie), Joey, Andrew, and Emily; daughter Eileen Mitchell and Clarke; sister-in-law Jacqueline (Hugh) McTavish as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 6, 2017 at the Calvary United Church, 114 – 25th Street East Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Nora Vedress officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in the RCMP Cemetery in Regina SK. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations may be made to the Calvary United Church, 114 – 25th Street East, Prince Albert, SK. S6V 1S5. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.
