Thorburn : Barbara Christena Palmer age 80 of Thorburn passed away on Tuesday Oct 3, 2017 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in New Glasgow she was a daughter of the late Clifford and Christena (Haggart) MacDonald.
Barbara was a lifelong resident of Thorburn.
She worked for a number of years at Zellers.
Barbara was a member of the Union Presbyterian Church where she was also a member of the choir and the ladies guild.
She was a CGIT leader for over 20 years.
Barbara was a former member of the Thorburn Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary .
She was known for her composing of poetry which she shared with many.
One of the most important things in her life was the time spent with her family .
Surviving are her husband of 61 years John Palmer

Debbie (Donnie) Martin of Central West River
Randy (Edwina) Palmer of Thorburn
Marlene (David) MacDonald of Coalburn
Shelley (Brian) MacKinnon of Pictou
11 grandchildren : Jason, Jody, Jarrett, David, Bryan, Kelyn, Jayden, Ryan, Adam, Palmer and Kristin
5 great grandchildren
Sisters: Sheila (Wade) MacDonald of Waverly
Marsha (Alan) Pink of Halifax
Brother-in-law : Graham Bowser of Halifax
Barbara was truly loved by her brothers and sisters -in-law and their families.
Also a number of nieces and nephews
She was predeceased by an infant son, an infant daughter Alice, sisters Gloria and Lillian and a brother-in-law Fred Jenkins
The family will receive visitors from 2-4 &7-9 P.M. on Friday in the H.W.Angus Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday at 2P.M from the Union Presbyterian Church with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating.
Burial will be in the Thorburn Cemetery.
A reception will follow the service in the church hall.
Donations in memory of Barbara may be made to the Union Presbyterian Church or to the Thorburn Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Dr. Boudreau, Dr. Soliman and the staff of 4 surgery for the exceptional care that mom received.
