Ann ‘Sharon’ Nicholson

Passed on: October 4th, 2017

It is with broken hearts that we say good-bye to one of the strongest women that God ever placed on this earth. Ann ‘Sharon’ Nicholson, 76, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Maple Hill Manor in New Waterford surrounded by her family.
Sharon was born in Glace Bay to the late Margaret (McNeil) and Angus Currie. As a young woman she was a drummer with the MacDougall Girls Pipe band. For many years she worked at the Community Hospital in Glace Bay, the Pluminary Unit and Bagnells Janitorial. Sharon lived a full life in Dominion raising her four children and being a wife to the love of her life, Jackie. In her younger years Sharon and Jackie attended many dances where they would dance circles around
anyone. She was fiercely proud of her children and grandchildren and loved to brag and tell stories about each of them. One of her favourite things to do was to listen to her boys play her a tune. She loved quilting, playing cards and watching old movies. Spending time with her family was very important to her.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Carl) MacEachern, Judique, and her two sons, Angus (Margo) Nicholson, Reserve Mines and John (Sal) Nicholson, Ottawa; her sisters, Alma (Ade) Fowler, Glace Bay, Myrna (Melvin) Shaw, Glace Bay; her grandchildren, Matthew, Dillon, Riley, Connor, Breton, Kim and Lucia; brother-in-law, Danny Morris, Mississauga, Ont; special friends, Frank and Mary Canova, and many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
She was predeceased by her parents, Angus and Margaret Currie; her husband, John (Jackie); her son, Paul, and her sister, Theresa.
Cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Church, Bridgeport with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. A reception will follow downstairs. Family Burial Only at Calvary Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and guidance of Curry's Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay.
Online condolences to the Nicholson family are available at currysfuneralhome.com.
She is gone to heaven to dance again with Jackie and listen to Paul play her a tune.
