It is with heavy hearts that the family of Jerry (Gerard Calvin) Aylward, of St. Lawrence announce his passing on Monday, October 2nd, at the Health Sciences Center, CICU aged 60 years. Predeceased by his parents Gerard and Lillian (nee Murphy) Aylward, father-in-law Clarence Gallant and brother-in-law Danny. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, wife Suzanne (nee Gallant) and daughter Samantha, who were his world. Also leaving to mourn siblings; Pat, Derrick (Brenda Lawlor), Diane (Jeff Curtis), Paula (Stephen Hanley), Calvin and nephew Jacob, as well as brother in laws; Allan, Terry (Louise), Andy (Lena), Clarence (Joyce), sister-in-laws; Louise (Pierre); Anne and a treasured circle of nieces and nephews, as well as a large circle of family and friends.
There have been numerous Health Care Professionals involved in Jerry's care over the years. The family would like to acknowledge the personal touches and compassion they provided Jerry and his family.
Jerry was an active member in his home town of St. Lawrence. A long-time member of the Lions Club, Jerry served as president of the local club for several years and played an instrumental part in funding raising initiatives for the playground and many other key causes in the community. Jerry operated the Mini Mart for over 30 years where he greeted his customers with a smile and chat upon arrival. He has no doubt left an indelible mark on the lives of many. May he live on with a smile, in each of his stories that he shared.
The Funeral Mass took place on Saturday, October 7th, 2017, from St. Thomas Aquinas Roman
Catholic Church in St. Lawrence. Interment followed at Mount Cecilia Roman Catholic Cemetery in St. Lawrence.
Flowers gratefully accepted, or the family kindly requests donations to the Dialysis Unit, Burin Peninsula Health Care Centre (P.O. Box 340, Burin, NL A0E 1E0), something that was also very important and close to Jerry's heart.
A devoted family man who went above and beyond for the ones he loved dearly.
