COMEAU, Herman John – age 82, Villa St. Joseph-du-Lac, Dayton, formerly of Yarmouth, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 in the Villa. Born December 1, 1934 in Melbourne, he was a son of the late Raymond and Josephine Comeau. Herman worked at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital for 34 years in both the sterile processing department and in the laundry department. Herman enjoyed walking and dancing and he loved sweets. He is survived by a step-daughter, Mildred Higby, Yarmouth; step-grandson, John (Claudette) Higby and step-great grandchildren, Jenna Higby and Dominic Higby. Also surviving are sisters, Marie (Howard) Nickerson, Yarmouth and Norma Leslie, Sackville, NS; nephews, Wayne and Frank Leslie. Aside from his parents, Herman was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy A. Comeau and step-son-in-law, Kenneth Higby. Visitation took place from 7-9 p.m., Sunday, with prayers at 8 p.m., in H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert St., Yarmouth. The funeral mass was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 9 in Saint Ambrose Co-Cathedral, Yarmouth, Father Henry Smolenaars officiated. Burial followed in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery. Donations in Herman’s memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Villa for the care and compassion they showed Herman during his stay there.
