It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Pops passed away at the Cove Guest Home on October 17, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
Born July 10, 1931 in Little Lorraine, NS, he was the son of the late Bernard and Theresa (Campbell) Burke.
Ernest is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Lauria (Paulin); sons, Earl (Debbie), Grand Mira South, Cecil (Kelly), Sydney, Brian (Rosella), Sydney River, Bruce (Sheila), Dutch Brook, Bernie (Sandra), Lower Sackville and Peter, Sydney; daughters, Debbie (John) Murphy, Coxheath and Karen (Daryl) Hillier, Coxheath; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; brothers, Basil, Sydney and Phonse (Cora) Antigonish, along with many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Ernest was predeceased by his son, Donald in 1988; sisters, Bernadine, Betty, Rita and Carmella, as well as brothers, Fred and Ambrose.
Visitation will be held October 19, 2017 from 4 to 6 p.m. at S.W. Chant and Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, with a Celebration of Life immediately following in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant to officiate. A lunch will follow the service.
The family would like to thank Dr. Archibald and the staff of The Cove for the wonderful care given to Pops the last two and a half years.
