Harold Anderson Cameron

Heaven gained another angel in the early morning hours of October 17, 2017 when the loving heart of our precious husband, father, and grandfather stopped beating. For 71 years, he was the beloved husband, best friend, and soul mate of Virginia (Manzi). Virginia was a war bride who came to Canada in 1946 (via Pier 21) to start their wonderful life together. It was a true love story that was shared and admired by many. A decorated World War II Veteran, he would shine his medals often and wore them proudly each Remembrance Day. His family was his pride and joy: the ones he laughed with, lived for and loved the most. He was happiest when he was surrounded by his family, and of course, when he was playing a game of crib. He could count a crib hand like no other, and he loved to win. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. In addition to the love of his life, he also leaves behind his sister Elizabeth, daughters Pamela (Robert) Campbell, Wendy (Rod) McCarthy, Angela (Lloyd) MacGregor, son David (Diane) Cameron, grandchildren Gina, Gillian, Erin, Amelia, Maggie, Mark, Luke, Christopher, Maria, David and Ryan, and great-grandchildren Cameron, Owen, Jack, James, Max, Blake, Laura, David, Ailish, Finley, Mack, Eric and Avery. He was pre-deceased by father John D. Cameron, mother Catherine M. Cameron, sister Catherine, brothers Alec and Harris, and brothers-in-law Clarence MacDougall and Lawrence Graham. Our family would like to thank his daughter Wendy and caregiver Helen for the tremendous 24-hour care they have provided over the past few years. We would also like to thank Veterans Affairs for their continued support and the Palliative Care Unit at the Victoria General Hospital for the amazing compassion they showed during his final days. In memory of Harold, donations can be made to Cystic Fibrosis Canada in honour of his great-grandson Blake Brien. Visitation will take place on Thursday, October 19 from 6pm-8pm, and the funeral will take place on Friday, October 20 at 11am (both at the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, 256 King Street in New Glasgow). A reception will follow the funeral, and a private burial will take place at MacPhersons Mills Cemetery.

“He took away all my worries and problems. It will be hard to know where I belong in this world without him. My heart will be forever broken.” Love, Virginia Cameron
