It is with sorrow that we must announce the passing of Shirley Denise Baender (nee Wharton) at the age of 70 in the Kelowna General Hospital on November 10, 2016. She passed away peacefully with her immediate family at her side. Mourning her passing are her husband Horst; her children Christopher (Katherin), Monica (Brent) and Martin (Kamiko) as well as her grandchildren Ashley, Erica, Steven and Katie. She was predeceased by her mother Bessie Wharton and her grandmother Annie Ferguson. She spent most of her life helping others as a physiotherapist in Victoria (George Road Hospital), in Vancouver (G.F. Strong Rehab Centre) in Kelowna (Kelowna General Hospital) and in Moose Jaw both at the Union Hopsital and at Home Care serving the Craig area. She valued life greatly of all living things and spent her last remaining months at her new retirement home in B.C. There was a “Celebration of Life” as well as a tree planting ceremony in her name on the family property in B.C. Her ashes will be interred in Moose Jaw at a later date. Donation may be made to a nature fund of one’s choice. She had a heart of gold and will be missed by many. In living memory of Shirley, a memorial planting will be made by W. J.
