Thompson, Helen Jean (Dryden) - 81, Truro, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 31, at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre with her husband Glen by her side. Born August 5, 1936, in Truro, she was the youngest daughter of the late Regina King and Harrison “Harry” Dryden. Helen is survived by her husband of 63 years, Glen Thompson; children Regina Coupar (John Schellenberg), Clifford, and Harry (Noella Reid); grandchildren Jennifer (Mike Plaus), Erin (Matthew Brownlow), John, Jared (Meghan), Bryce (Terri-Lynn), Liam, Hannah, and great-grandchildren Ethan and Emmett (Plaus), Kyan and Ronan (Brownlow), Marley, Brayden, and Benjamin (Thompson); younger brother Winston.
She is predeceased by sisters: Georgina, Marie, Lorraine, Bertha, Marguerite; brothers: Harry, Louis, and Gordon.
All are welcome to join Helen’s family for a celebration of her life on Friday, November 3rd, from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at the Masonic Lodge, 143 Pictou Road, Bible Hill. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are under the direction of Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, from where funeral service will take place on Saturday, November 4th at 11 am with the Reverend Lori Ramsey officiating. A reception will follow in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Colchester East Hants Health Centre or a charity of choice. The family wishes to extend a big thank you to the Palliative Care Unit for their compassion and insight. Because of you Helen experienced a better quality of life.
