GORDON RUSSELL SMITH

GORDON RUSSELL SMITH

Born In: Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada
Born: October 10th, 1958

Passed in: Revelstoke, British Columbia, Canada
Passed on: April 9th, 2011

Gord took his final flight, from his home on April 09th, after a long & valiant struggle.

Gordon Russell was born on the 10th day of the 10th month (1958) at 10 after 10; the baby of five and the youngest grandchild of Hon. Syd & Marion Smith. Along with them, he now rests with his parents Max (2004) & Peggy (1963), all her Haggerty clan, his bros Terry (2007) and Bill (July 2010), his dear Auntie Pat Portman (1998), his best bud Jody, a whole host of loving family and friends that we trust have welcomed him with open arms.
GR is survived by his stepmom Marie and will be sorely missed by his wife Laura, who was a trooper to his end; sis Janice, brother Mike, in-laws Bobby (Gerry), Mark (Barb), Mike (Noreen), Julie and many other cousins, family & friends.

Gord was born and raised in Kamloops, then settled in Revelstoke where he & Laura married in 1990. He was a reliable worker with CP Rail for 19 years, Cott Beverage for 5 and the last 3 with RER. He was a fearless skier, a proud air cadet, an excellent golfer (enjoy those Heavenly Links with Dad and your bros); a loving husband, a loyal friend and neighbour; a special young brother! He loved to get out on the highway on his Harley.

He faced his adversities with determination and will be forever remembered for his wonderful sense of humour, often at his own expense.

The family would like to thank all blood donors for the extra months we could have with GR, also the staff at Revelstoke Hospital for their compassion and hugs.
No service. Donations to a charity of your choice.

One of Gord's final memories: soaring over Kamloops Lake, in a glider, with our neighbour.

We trust he is enjoying that kind of peace, at last.
