Brittain, Harold Wallace, passed away Tuesday November 7th, 2017 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born June 3, 1922, to Gordon Brittain and Fannie (Hamm) Brittain. Dad was a hardworking man of many talents, having been thrown into the work force at an early age as a result of his father's death. In 1942 he joined the military with the 4th Division, 15th field artillery "C" troop in communications, driver/operator. Returning to Canada in January of 1946 and once again returning to the family farm. In 1952 he married Anita Hope Hurlburt and together they raised 4 children. Dad is predeceased by his parents, wife Anita and brother-in-law Malcolm White. He is survived by daughter, Gwendolyn (Chuck) Stapleton and their children, David and his family and Victoria; son, Wayne (Nancy) Brittain and their children, Holly (Neil) and family, Amanda (Paul) and family and Mathew (Rosa); daughter, Heather (Glenn) Garnett and her children, Katelyn and family, Brittany (Brett) and family, and Jason; daughter, Valerie (Dave) Atwood, Heidi (Mike) and Kyle; sister, Olive White of Yarmouth County; and brother, Hartley (Ruth) Brittain, of Ontario. Dad was an avid fisherman and hunter doing both from one end of this province to the other. Dad and Mom spent many years travelling to Newfoundland in pursuit of salmon and moose. Dad spent many years as a trapper and was a hunting guide among the many he guided was three generations of the same family over a 50 year span. They were also great music lovers and travelled to many festivals and musical gathering throughout Nova Scotia, meeting many wonderful people, who like them enjoyed a good laugh, maybe a shot of rum and lots of music. Dad's toes were always taping and he was more than ready to close out the evening dancing until the last note was played. In honor of dad's wishes he has been cremated by Sweeny's Funeral Home and Crematorium. There was a celebration of life in the Forest Glen Community Centre, Friday, November 10, 2017 at 2 P.M., Rev. Mr. Stephen Bourque officiated. A private family committal took place in the Forest Glen Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Memorial Club, Yarmouth or the Forest Glen Community Centre.
