Maurice Mervyn Mombouquette Maurice Mervyn Mombouquette

Passed on: November 5th, 2017

Our darling Papa Mo, Maurice Mervyn Mombouquette of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at the age of 85 years, surrounded by family and love.
Born August 11, 1932 on beautiful Cape Breton Island, which always held a large part of his heart, Maurice made his way west in 1952 as a newlywed, embarking on the biggest chapter of his life.
Maurice had a long career; beginning as a supply specialist on the DEW line in the 1950’s and early 1960’s, and over 30 years in the automotive industry; a perfect business for our loquacious father. As a salesman, Maurice drove millions of miles and made thousands of friends. He was a member of the ACT since 1969, and the UCT since 1993. After his retirement, he formed a small import company; a source of great pleasure and wacky road trips.
Dad was a long-time resident of Waiparous Village; his favourite place on earth and the site of many treasured family memories; picnics, walks, and celebrations, not to mention many work parties.
Maurice was a proud and protective father of seven daughters, and is survived by all of them, Fran Parker (Robert), Sheila Galati (Joseph), Debbie June Mombouquette (Peter Deelman), Debra Anne Stangeland, Patricia Szybunka (Wayne), Cheryl McReynolds and Katherine Roth (Faron); his adored eight grandchildren, Terry Rollier, Andrea Parker, Robert Parker Jr., Breanna Stangeland, Brandon Stangeland, Sydney Roth, Hailey Szybunka and Chloe Szybunka; nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, and his best travelling buddy, Russ White.
Maurice was predeceased by his long-time love, Elinor Bishop; grandson, Benjamin Rollier, and three sisters, June Spencer (Jimmy), Lillian Dunphy (Basil) and Clara Amy (Bernard).
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Park Memorial, 5008 Elbow Dr. S.W.) on Sunday, November 12, 2017 at 2 p.m. Reception to follow at funeral home.
Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
The family wholeheartedly thanks the staff at McKenzie Towne Long Term Care, and Granddaughters Personal Care for their extraordinary care and affection for our father.
